Gold Award

The Head Teacher’s ‘favourite time of the week!’

Every week 2 children are selected from each class who the teacher feels have achieved particularly highly. Each child receives a certificate at our special assembly, presented by another child.  All the children who receive an award are recorded in the Gold Award book.

Here are some examples of achievement we are proud of:
  • ‘For fantastic writing about the Gingerbread man, using their phonics to help with spelling’.
  • ‘Fantastic speaking and listening on our trip to White Post Farm and answering questions with detail’.
  • ‘For always trying hard in everything he does’.
  • ‘For a super attitude to learning’.
  • ‘For working completely independently!

Attendance Awards

Attendance is really important at Speedwell School.

The class with the best attendance each week gets to have Sunshine our attendance bear visit their class for the week.  The attendance for each class is shared at Celebration Assembly on Friday to find out where Sunshine will be visiting the next week.
If a class achieves 100% attendance for the week, all the children in the class get special 100% attendance stickers.

Children also receive a special certificate at the end of every term based on their attendance for that term:
  • Gold: 100% attendance
  • Silver: 98% + attendance
  • Bronze: 96% + attendance
Children who achieve 100% attendance for the whole year are also celebrated and receive a special prize at the end of the summer term.
Who will achieve 100% attendance all year?

Reading Challenge

Read 30 times at home with a grown up, and you will get to choose a prize from the prize box.  Also, after the first 30 reads, you will get a bronze reading award.  After another 30 reads a silver award, and then a gold award and a medal.  Children receive their awards in Celebration assembly on a Friday.   Then, at the end of the year there is a prize draw for a special prize.

Each child's name goes into the prize draw for every time they have achieved a reading challenge, so the more challenges you achieve the more times your name goes into the prize draw.
