Safeguarding

Safeguarding

Keeping children safe and ensuring they are well cared for is of paramount importance to everyone at Speedwell Infant School.  We put the needs of the children at the heart of everything we do.  The school has a clear child protection and safeguarding policy which provides information about how we keep children safe.  This may at times mean we need to talk to parents/carers about seeking additional support for families form other professionals, including Derbyshire Children’s Services.

We receive information from Derbyshire Police relating to any domestic abuse incidents where a child at school may have been present.   We may also be contacted by Derbyshire Children’s Services when they are exploring possible concerns relating to a child at school.  In line with Working Together to Safeguard Children (Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018 (publishing.service.gov.uk)) we work with other professionals to support the needs of children in school.

We also support children to understand how to keep themselves safe and enable children to share any worries or concerns they may have.

Mrs Moore, Headteacher is the Lead Designated Safeguarding Lead and Miss Clark, Deputy Headteacher is the Designated Safeguarding Lead at Speedwell Infant School.
